Unsung Cities Mission Statement

Unsung Cities explores the layered beauty and tension of urban life through rough-hewn houses, stacked buildings, and serpentine stairways that seem to lead to nowhere and everywhere all at once. By merging contemporary and traditional techniques within influences of Impressionism and Synthetism, I create cityscapes that are both humanistically gritty and delicately poetic. Though people are never directly shown, their undeniable presence inhabits the spaces, histories,

and rhythms of the neighborhoods depicted.

My mission is to reveal the hidden vibrancy of these crowded lived-in places, where architecture becomes both a symbol of community and a reflection of resilience. Through painting, I invite viewers to step into these spaces and experience the pulse of unseen lives within. Inspired by the winding alleys of Alfama, Portugal, and the layered streets of Spain,
my work reimagines cityscapes that exist somewhere between memory and invention.
